each platform keeps its own timeline and its own version numbers.

up. If you have one, enter it when you sign up to unlock its plan.
Fixed: Check for Model Updates, in Settings, works again. fi[x]in now tries our
public model repository on GitHub first, then a copy of it on a CDN, then fi[x]in's own server, checks
every file before using it, and only acts on an engine list that carries our signature.
Emerald 5.3 stops at the category when it should.
When it can't yet name a kind of problem reliably, it now stops at the category and tells you so,
instead of guessing, as Emerald 5.0 and 5.2 do.
Online once after you update. fi[x]in needs a connection once to finish setting up
diagnosis, and again the first time you use the Describe tab or switch engines. After that, diagnosis
works offline as before.

of each engine. If your plan includes earlier versions, they're under Other Models, at the end of the
list. On Premiere and The One that's Emerald 5.3, Sapphire 4.8 and Ruby 3.9, with Emerald 5.2, Emerald
5.0 and Sapphire 4.3 under Other Models; the free plan and guests keep Sapphire 4.3 and Ruby 3.9.
Tapping the engine's name on the Diagnosis screen now switches between the newest versions only.
French, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil) and Korean. fi[x]in now follows your iPhone's
language in four more languages. Screens and menus change language; diagnosis names, repair guides and
tips are still in English. The translations are machine-made, so tell us when one reads wrong.
A newer engine — Emerald 5.3. Premiere and The
One can choose it; it's never a default. On our held-out test set it's level with Sapphire 4.8 rather
than ahead of it, so 4.8 stays the default. Like the earlier Emeralds, its newer categories don't have
built-in repair guides yet.

Choose your engine, on every plan. Settings › Diagnosis Engine lists the engines
your plan includes, each with a line on what it's good at, and tapping the engine's name at the top of
the New Diagnosis screen moves to the next one. The free plan and guests can pick Sapphire 4.3 or Ruby
3.9; Premiere and The One can also pick Sapphire 4.8, Emerald 5.0 and Emerald 5.2. Your choice sticks
for as long as your plan includes it. If you're on your plan's default engine, upgrading moves you to
the new plan's default.
Emerald 5.2 comes in the app. On Premiere and
The One it sits beside Emerald 5.0 as a choice, never a default. On our held-out test set it names the
right category more often than 5.0 on the problems Sapphire also covers, and sends fewer everyday
problems into the 13 newer categories by mistake. It files flat tires under tires and wheels, and boat
navigation under marine electronics, so it carries its own name rather than replacing 5.0. The newer
categories still don't have built-in repair guides.
Fixed: match strength for the problem category. On Sapphire 4.3 and Emerald, how
sure a result was of the category read higher than it should have. It's calibrated again, so those
engines read a little less sure, and more results may stop at the category instead of naming a
specific fault. The category they name doesn't change.
Fixed: switching engines twice in quick succession could leave the first engine
running under the second one's name until the next switch.
A new app icon. The same [fxn] mark, now on black.
A more accurate engine — Sapphire 4.8. It
covers the same categories as Sapphire 4.3 and, on our held-out test set, names the right category, and
the specific fault, more often. It becomes the default on Premiere and The One.
A broader engine — Emerald 5.0. It recognizes
13 kinds of problem Sapphire doesn't, including clutches, spark plugs and ignition, bottom fouling,
fences and gates, and showers and tubs. Covering more costs some accuracy on the categories Sapphire
already knows, so Emerald is an option on Premiere and The One rather than a default; 1.5.1 lets you
choose it. The new categories don't have built-in repair guides yet.
Sapphire 4.3 for every account. Sapphire 4.3 takes over from Ruby 3.9 as the
starting engine: it's the default on the free plan and for guests.
The free plan still stops at the problem category; the specific fault stays a Premiere and The One
feature, whichever engine runs.
The whole photo, edge to edge. Sapphire 4.8 and Emerald 5.0 look at the whole photo
instead of cropping it, the way they were tested. Sapphire 4.3 keeps its crop.
Sapphire 4.0 is retired. If you'd chosen it, fi[x]in moves you to your plan's
default engine.
Your settings, in one place. Repair guide level, units, sound and notifications
have their own page: tap App Settings, under your account in Settings.
Live engine data in your units. With a Bluetooth LE OBD-II reader, live engine data
shows in °F or °C, mph or km/h, psi, kPa or bar, and gal/h or L/h, starting with the units for your
region.
Sound effects are off by default. Turn them on in App Settings if you like
them.
Report a Bug, at the bottom of Settings, opens our
bug report
form.
Word of new engines. fi[x]in can now check for new diagnosis engines in the
background and let you know when one is out, if you've turned on notifications.

Four more languages, and warnings with your local emergency number.

German, Spanish (Mexico), Dutch and Traditional Chinese. fi[x]in follows your
iPhone's language: screens, menus, severity and match wording, skill levels and the OBD-II labels are
translated, and iOS's per-app Language setting works too. Diagnosis names, repair guides and PDF exports
stay in English for now. The translations are machine-made, so tell us when one reads wrong.
Safety warnings give your region's emergency number. Home and boat warnings used to
say 911 everywhere. They now follow your iPhone's Region setting: 911 in the US, Canada and much of
Latin America, 112 across Europe, 119 in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, and 000 in Australia. The home call
button dials the number it shows, and the car roadside button appears in the US and Canada, where it
reaches AAA or CAA; elsewhere, "Find a tow nearby" takes its place.
A new app icon. A bold [fxn] mark with a blue x, on a dark navy gradient.
The App Clip says when a problem is serious. High and critical results open with a
warning, and answers are hedged as a likely or possible problem, or a best guess, under a match
strength.
Fixed: worksheet tips that were a single word. With the Repair Assistant set to
Local Model, a worksheet tip could read just "caution". Tips, and repair guides on paid plans, now always
come from fi[x]in's servers, whatever mode the chat is in.
Fixed: paid-plan guides stuck on the built-in version. When fi[x]in's servers
couldn't write a guide, the built-in one was kept for good. It now stands in for an hour, then fi[x]in
asks again.
Readable Repair Assistant errors. "The connection timed out. Please try again."
instead of an error code.

Signing in works again, and repair guides at your level.

Fixed: 1.4.6 could sign you out and not let you back in. Everything that needs your
account stopped working with it — backups, the Repair Assistant, your plan. That's fixed. Nothing was
lost: sign in and your diagnoses are back.
Repair guides at your level. Choose Beginner, Intermediate or Pro / Tech under
Settings › Repair Guides › Skill Level. Every built-in guide now comes in all three levels of detail:
Beginner uses plain-language steps that start with visual checks, with clear points to stop and call a
pro; Pro / Tech goes to direct diagnostics, root-cause isolation and checking the repair afterwards.
Intermediate, what everyone had before, stays the default, and a guide already saved with a diagnosis
doesn't change.
History is a tab. Your saved diagnoses are one tap away. The tab bar is now Home ·
Projects · camera · Describe · History, with History where Hire used to be.
Start without signing in. A new install now opens straight on Home, ready to scan,
instead of on the sign-in screen. Sign in or create an account whenever you like from Settings. If your
session has just ended you'll see the sign-in screen once, so your saved work doesn't look
missing.
Delete your account from Settings. Settings › Account › Delete Account asks for your
password, deletes your fi[x]in account on our servers, then removes that account's diagnoses and projects
from this phone. Worksheets and repair plans
saved on the phone stay on it, and a subscription bought on the website has to be cancelled there. The
option first appeared in 1.4.6, but with signing in broken this is the first version where you can use
it.
Fixed: abbreviations in diagnosis names. "Sensor Ecu" and "Co Detector Fault" now
read "Sensor ECU" and "CO Detector Fault" — 27 abbreviations, across results, History, Home's Recent
list, project detail and worksheet titles.

Plain warnings when a problem is serious.

A safety warning on serious results. When the app is reasonably confident a problem
is High or Critical, the result opens with a red banner worded for what you're diagnosing: "Don't drive
it until it's checked" for a car; "Stop using it until it's checked" at home, with "leave and call 911
from outside" for gas, smoke, sparks or cracking; and "Don't run this system until it's checked" on a
boat. Serious boat faults also get Emergency Help: fixed guidance for a Mayday or
immediate danger (VHF channel 16, or 911 within cell range) and a Find nearest marina
search. The guidance reads offline; the search needs a signal.
Guest mode, improved.Try It Without an Account is now a full button
on the sign-in screen. Diagnoses and projects you make as a guest now show in Recent, History and
Projects, and guest mode stays on after you close the app.
Straight to the camera, or describe it instead. Scan on Home and the camera button in
the tab bar open the camera straight away, and your daily limit is checked before the camera opens
rather than after the photo. Choose Photo uses the system picker, so fi[x]in doesn't need access to
your photo library, and the capture screen shows one next step at a time. The Ask tab is now
Describe: you pick Car, Home or Boat, and the candidates are labelled as possible
causes, not a confirmed diagnosis. Use This Diagnosis saves a described problem to
History, so it can go into a project.
Results say only what they know. Headings read "Likely problem", "Possible problem"
or "Best guess" instead of "Final Diagnosis". Result tools that didn't do anything are gone or now work:
Recalls opens NHTSA's recall search, the appliance, marine-parts and permit lookups run a web search,
and unfinished tiles are hidden.
Easier to use with accessibility settings. Home's camera card grows with text size,
tab labels stay on one line up to the largest standard text size, and a long press shows the Large
Content Viewer.
Icon-only buttons have names for VoiceOver, checkboxes announce their state, section titles are
headings, and tap targets are at least 44 points. Reduce Motion turns the launch animation into a fade,
and Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast make glass panels solid or outlined.
Fixed. Analyze could crash when photo analysis failed. Deleting a diagnosis that had
no photo could delete every saved photo. Described problems got the wrong severity and the general
guide; they now take both from the problem's category, as photos do. Car results asked for Bluetooth,
and boat results for your location, as soon as they opened. A guide that failed to load was saved in
place of the guide. Guides and worksheets had lost their safety section. The home shut-off page gave a
green all-clear when nothing matched; it now says so in amber and tells you to leave and call 911 if you
smell gas or smoke. The capture screen didn't fit on small phones. Settings rows that delete diagnoses
now say so and ask first.
Known problem, fixed in 1.4.8. This version could sign you out and then fail to sign
you back in, so backups, the Repair Assistant and your plan stopped working. Guest mode and on-device
diagnosis kept working, and nothing saved on your phone was lost. Update to 1.4.8.

Use fi[x]in without an account.Continue as Guest on the sign-in
screen opens the app straight into diagnosis. Photo diagnosis and describing a problem both run on your
phone, so they never needed an account. Guests are on the free plan, and features that do need an
account, like the Repair Assistant and cloud backup, say so instead of failing with a network
error.
A saved diagnosis opens the page you saw. Tapping a diagnosis in History, in Home's
Recent list or in a project used to open a cut-down summary card. It now opens the same results page
the scan produced, with repair instructions, Parts and Tools and the rest; deleting, the saved date and
backup status move into the toolbar menu. New diagnoses come back exactly as they were. Older ones come
back with the right labels, severity and match strength, but without per-step percentages the app never
stored.
Live data from an OBD-II reader, and a steadier connection. With a paired reader,
Settings › Vehicle Diagnostics › Live ECU Data streams the car's readings, showing only the sensors it
reports. Connecting to a reader that was out of range or switched off could leave the app waiting
forever; it now gives up cleanly. A VIN could come back garbled, a trouble code could be read as a
different one, and "no trouble codes" could appear when the app never reached the car. It now reports a
clean result only when the car has answered.
Fixed: home diagnoses could read "Av" or "Hvac". Those labels now have proper
names.

A new home screen, built around the camera.

A new home screen, and the camera from every tab. Home is now one camera block —
"Point at the problem", Scan, and "or describe it instead" — with Car, Home and Boat
shortcuts into describing a problem and a Recent list of your last three diagnoses. The
connection bar, engine pill, stat chips and side menu are gone; the top bar is one backup line
("Ready", "Synced" or "N to back up") and an account button that opens Settings. A raised camera button
in the middle of the tab bar opens the photo flow over whatever you were doing, and History is "See all"
under Recent. The whole app is repainted in the fi[x]in brand colours.
Match strength in words, the same on every screen. Results and History say "Strong
match", "Possible match" or "Low match" instead of a percentage, and a low match suggests retaking the
photo in better light. Home and History used to measure the whole diagnosis while the results page
measured a single step, so the same diagnosis could read differently depending on where you opened it.
Every screen now uses the same measure, and the cut-offs were reset so a more specific answer no longer
scores worse than a vague one. Percentages are still on the results page's confidence ladder and close
alternatives.
The headline is the category. The biggest text on a result is now the broad category,
which the app gets right more often than the specific fault, with the specific fault underneath. The
"Classification Complete" badge, shown the same however sure the model was, is gone, and so is a green
"No Issues Detected" the app had no way to detect.
Home and boat descriptions now count. In 1.4.3, what you typed or dictated with a
photo only changed the diagnosis for cars. Car, home and boat now each have their own text model, so a
home or boat description is combined with the photo too. Describing a problem without a photo no longer
sends home and boat through one shared model that could answer with another area's fault.
Parts and Tools reads the repair guide. The supplies list used to come from a keyword
table that only knew about cars, so a boat teak refinish was offered a socket set. It now comes from the
"What You'll Need" section of the built-in guide itself, the same list the Repair Worksheet uses.
Your plan sets the engine. Each account now runs the engine its plan includes, and is
moved onto it as soon as your plan is confirmed at launch. Switching engines by hand went with the old
dashboard, so Settings now shows your engine rather than changing it.
Fixed. Anything drawn in the system accent colour — the camera's Use Photo bar, share
and PDF views, alert buttons — was nearly invisible against the dark background. Results sat on a dark
coloured wash that hid their cards; they're now on the same black as the rest of the app. A described
problem scored lower than the same problem photographed, and its "Confident" badge now reads "Clear
leader", which is what it measures. A free account could briefly run a paid engine at launch, and a
paying account could spend a whole session on the free one.

A retrained engine — Sapphire 4.3. The
Vision Transformer has been retrained end to end, and on our held-out test set it picks the right
domain — car, home, or boat — and the right category more often than the engine that shipped with
1.4.0.
Close alternatives on a result. When the model can't cleanly separate two or three
categories, the result page now lists them in order with their confidence instead of showing only the
winner. The right answer is on that short list more often than it is first, so it is worth a look
before you start work. A confident result is unchanged.
"Was this right?" on every diagnosis. One tap: That's right, Not
right, or Not sure yet. Choosing "Not right" offers the model's other candidates, so the
correct answer is usually one tap away. Everything stays on your device — and it's the only way the app
can learn which diagnoses actually land.
What you type about the problem now changes the diagnosis. The description you type
or dictate was previously saved with the result but never used. It's now read by the on-device symptom
model and combined with what the photo shows — which helps most where a photo alone can't decide, since
an alternator and the belt driving it look identical in a picture but rarely sound the same. Vague
wording is ignored rather than allowed to drag the answer around. Cars only for now; boat and
home descriptions are saved as before.
Diagnosis models update themselves. The app can now pick up improved models from our
servers without waiting for an App Store release, so a retrain reaches you in hours instead of on the
next submission cycle. Settings gains a Check for Model Updates button, and the app
also checks quietly on its own at most once every six hours.
Downloads are Wi-Fi only unless you say otherwise — a full model set is around
50 MB, and the cellular toggle is off by default.
A part-finished download still helps: the models needed for a diagnosis arrive first and are used
as soon as they land, so losing signal leaves you with working general diagnosis rather than
nothing.
Nothing is replaced until a download has completed and every file has been verified, so an
interrupted update leaves the app exactly as it was.
New engine generations without an app update. A new named engine can now be
introduced from the server and appear in the picker instead of requiring a new build. Plan entitlements
still apply.
Confidence now describes the whole diagnosis, not just the last step. The percentage
used to average the steps, which ignored the chance of a wrong turn earlier in the chain — a diagnosis
whose parts scored 90%, 45%, and 40% was shown as 58% when the odds of the whole answer being
right were 16%. Expect the numbers to read lower than before. They aren't worse; they
were previously overstated. The green/amber/red bands moved with them, so green now means "more likely
right than wrong".
A specific answer is held back when the category isn't certain. The most specific
level is chosen based on the category above it, so an uncertain category used to produce a
confident-looking specific answer from the wrong branch. The result now stops at the category and says
why, with a prompt to retake the photo.
Photos are cropped square rather than letterboxed. Worth about 1.7 percentage points
of accuracy across 2,500 test photos — the model never saw black bars while training, and letterboxing
shrinks the subject. This matches what Android already did.
Fixed: serious problems were rated "Low". Severity was decided by matching a handful
of words that no longer matched the categories the models emit, so of the 41 car categories only
"transmission" ever reached High — brake, engine, electrical, fuel-system, and steering problems were
all reported as Low. Severity is now keyed to the real category list across all three domains, and a
specific fault can raise the rating but never lower it.
Fixed: the confidence sliders in Model Status did nothing. All four were saved and
reloaded but never consulted, so moving them had no effect on any diagnosis.
Fixed: Sapphire 4.0 vanished from the engine picker when a newer generation was
added — the new entry replaced it rather than sitting alongside it, silently moving anyone who had
picked 4.0 onto a different engine. Each generation is now its own entry with its own model files.
Downloads are verified before they're used. Every file carries a SHA-256 in the
catalog and is discarded if the contents don't match, server-supplied filenames are validated against
an allow-list before anything is written to disk, and downloaded models are excluded from iCloud
backups so they don't eat your storage allowance.

The Sapphire 4.0 engine arrives.

Named ML engines you can switch between. The on-device models now ship as named
generations — Sapphire 4.0, a full retrain of the classifier
cascade, alongside Ruby 3.9, the engine that shipped with 1.3.9. The
newest installed generation is selected for you automatically.
Sapphire 4.0 gains its Vision Transformer trunk. Sapphire now runs the full
two-pipeline setup rather than the cascade alone, sharpening domain and primary-fault predictions across
cars, boats, and homes.
See which engine is running. The Home screen header and the Diagnosis screen both show
the active engine — "ML Engine: Sapphire 4.0" — in place of the old "Still in Development" note.
Diagnose without a photo. Can't get a usable shot? Pick Car, Boat, or Home and
describe the problem in your own words, typed or dictated. You get a ranked list of possible causes with
confidence bars instead of a single guess, and you can keep adding symptoms — each one re-ranks the list.
Tap the one you agree with and it opens the same results page a photo diagnosis produces, carrying your
symptoms into the repair instructions, worksheet, and Ask ML. All of it runs on-device.
A much bigger guide library. The instruction library grew from 106 guides — one per
problem category — to 2,262, filed by specific fault, so a boat autopilot that won't
hold course and one with a leaking hydraulic ram each open their own guide. Where a fault has no guide
of its own, the category guide still appears.
Restore your diagnoses from cloud backups. History can now pull backed-up diagnoses
back down, so a new phone, a reinstall, or cleared local data no longer means starting from an empty
History. Restoring never overwrites what's already on your device — it adds what's missing and fills in
the blanks.
Backups now carry the whole diagnosis. Each backup includes the diagnosis, confidence,
domain, severity, repair instructions, and your problem description alongside the photo, so a restored
diagnosis comes back complete. Older backups still restore with their photo and date — re-running Back Up
fills in the rest.
Two-factor sign-in on iOS. Accounts with two-factor authentication can now sign in on
the app. After your password is accepted, fi[x]in asks for the current code from your authenticator app; a
six-digit code submits itself as soon as you finish typing, and iOS can fill it in for you.
Your diagnosis allowance follows your account. Plan limits are now tracked on a
rolling 30-day window server-side, so they travel across devices and reinstalls instead of resetting when
you switch phones. The Diagnosis screen shows what's left and when the window resets. Diagnoses run
offline are counted once you're back online, and only a diagnosis that actually completes counts — a
failed analysis is free.
Wider boat fault coverage. Five new problem categories: sterndrive/outdrive, trailer,
propane/LPG galley, refrigeration, and trim tabs.
"AI" is now "ML" across the app. The assistant labels now read ML Assistant and ML
Diagnostic Assistant, matching how the feature is described everywhere else.
Cleaner results hubs. On the Car, Boat, and Home results screens every feature-button
icon now uses one per-domain theme color instead of a multicolored grid.
Fixed: offline diagnoses that claimed to be backed up. A diagnosis saved while offline
was flagged as synced as soon as the network returned, but nothing was actually sent — History showed it
as backed up and it was skipped by "Back Up Unsynced". It now uploads for real, and stays queued if the
upload fails.

Describe the problem out loud.

Voice problem description. Alongside the photo you can now dictate — or type — what's wrong: "it clicks but won't turn over." Transcription happens entirely on-device, with a live transcript while you speak. The description is saved with the diagnosis, fed into the repair instructions, carried into Ask ML, and preserved when you analyze again.
Smarter diagnosis models. The Vision Transformer was retrained and the classifier manifest advanced from v7 to v12, adding new fault classes and refreshed per-domain outputs — more problems recognized, labeled more accurately.
Shipping builds locked to our own servers. Production builds can only talk to trusted fi[x]in hosts, the development and custom server pickers are hidden outside debug builds, and any custom value planted through a backup restore is snapped back on launch. Credentials are attached only to requests bound for a trusted host. Together this prevents anyone from being talked into repointing the app at someone else's server.
Launch splash shows the company lockup. After the fi[x]in wordmark settles, an "AM Solutions" line fades in beneath it and holds for a beat — matching the intro videos. The App Clip now shows the same splash as the full app.
Local-model color cue. When the on-device model is running, the Home screen container outlines switch from blue to the orange that mirrors "Local Model Ready", so the active mode is obvious at a glance.
Home screen restyle. Stat chips are more compact with the icon and value on one line, container outlines are bolder, and the "Synced to cloud" tag now reads in blue.

language in four more languages, and on Android 13 and later Settings › Apps › fixin
› Language offers all nine. Screens and menus change language; diagnosis names, repair guides and
tips are still in English, and the translations are machine-made.
A simpler engine list. Settings › Diagnosis Engine now shows just the newest
version of each engine. If your plan includes earlier versions, they're under Other Models, at the end
of the list. On Premiere and The One that's Emerald 5.3, Sapphire 4.8 and Ruby 3.9, with Emerald 5.2,
Emerald 5.0 and Sapphire 4.3 under Other Models; the free plan and guests keep Sapphire 4.3 and Ruby
3.9. The engine badge on the Diagnosis screen now switches between the newest versions only.
A newer engine — Emerald 5.3. Premiere and The
One can choose it; it's never a default. On our held-out test set it's level with Sapphire 4.8 rather
than ahead of it, so 4.8 stays the default. Like the earlier Emeralds, its newer categories don't have
built-in repair guides yet.
A smaller download. The engines built into the app take about half the space they
did.
A new app icon. The same [fxn] mark, now on black, as on iPhone.

Emerald 5.2 comes in the app. On 1.5.0 it was
a download. Now all five engines are built in, and Premiere and The One can switch to Emerald 5.2 from
the engine badge on the Diagnosis screen or in Settings › Diagnosis Engine, like the
others.
Fixed: fi[x]in could close as soon as it opened. After an app update or a phone
restart, if a reminder had been scheduled, fi[x]in could close before its first screen every time you
opened it. If you installed the 1.5.0 APK, update to 1.5.1.
Fixed: model updates. Check for Model Updates had stopped working. It now tries our
public model repository on GitHub first, then a copy of it on a CDN, then fi[x]in's own server, and
checks every file before using it.
A signed engine list. fi[x]in only acts on a list of engine updates that carries
our signature, wherever it came from, and turns down one older than the last it accepted, so an
out-of-date copy can't roll your engines back.

A sharper Emerald: Emerald 5.2.

A download, not an app update. On 1.5.0, Premiere and The One could download
Emerald 5.2 and choose it in Settings › Diagnosis Engine.
Emerald 5.0 stays available. From 1.5.1, Emerald 5.2 comes built in.
More accurate than 5.0. On our held-out test set it names the right category more
often on the problems Sapphire also covers, level with Sapphire 4.3, and names the specific fault more
often. It's as good as 5.0 on the 13 newer kinds of problem, and sends fewer everyday problems into
them by mistake.
Two categories folded together. Flat tires are filed under tires and wheels, and
boat navigation under marine electronics. That's why it carries its own name rather than replacing
5.0.
Still a choice, not a default. Sapphire 4.8 stays more accurate on the categories
it covers, so it remains the default on Premiere and The One. The 13 newer categories still don't have
built-in repair guides.

A more accurate engine — Sapphire 4.8. The
same categories as Sapphire 4.3, with the right category, and the specific fault, named more often on
our held-out test set. It becomes the default on Premiere and The One.
A broader engine — Emerald 5.0. 13 kinds of
problem Sapphire doesn't cover, including clutches, spark plugs and ignition, bottom fouling, fences and
gates, and showers and tubs. It gives up some accuracy on Sapphire's categories to cover them, so it's a
choice on Premiere and The One rather than a default. The new categories don't have built-in repair
guides yet.
Sapphire 4.3 for every account. The free plan and guests move up from Ruby 3.9 to
Sapphire 4.3, and every plan can run it. The specific fault stays a Premiere and The One feature.
Pick an engine in Settings › Diagnosis Engine, or tap the engine badge on the
Diagnosis screen. Sapphire 4.8 and Emerald 5.0 look at the whole photo instead of cropping it, the way
they were tested.
German, Spanish (Mexico), Dutch and Traditional Chinese. fi[x]in follows your
phone's language, and on Android 13 and later you can set one for fi[x]in alone, under Settings ›
Apps › fixin › Language. Screens and menus change language; diagnosis names, repair guides
and the Repair Assistant's answers stay in English, and the translations are machine-made.
Guides at your level. Every built-in repair guide now also comes in a Beginner and a
Pro / Tech version, so the Skill Level setting changes the guide you get. Choose yours in Settings
› App Settings › Repair Guides.
You stay signed in. Closing the app no longer signs you out; a sign-in lasts 30
days.
Your settings, in one place. Repair guide level, units and notifications have their
own page, Settings › App Settings. Live engine data from an OBD-II reader shows in your units:
°F or °C, mph or km/h, psi, kPa or bar, and gal/h or L/h, starting with your region's.
Also: Report a Bug, at the bottom of Settings, opens our bug report form. Safety
warnings give the emergency number for your region, not always 911. A new app icon and fi[x]in logo.
When one cause clearly leads a description's results, it says "Clear leader", and a request your plan
doesn't cover now says so instead of saying you're signed out.

Sign-up works, and serious problems say so.

Fixed: creating an account always failed. The sign-up form sent no access code, and
our server turns down a sign-up without one. It now has an access-code field, shows the password rules
before you submit, asks you to agree to the EULA, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and keeps Create
Account disabled until the form is complete.
A safety warning on serious results. When the app is reasonably confident a problem is
High severity, the result opens with a plain warning worded for what you're diagnosing: "Don't drive it
until it's checked" for a car; "Stop using it until it's checked" at home, with "leave and call 911 from
outside" for gas, smoke, sparks or cracking; and "Don't run this system until it's checked" on a boat.
Serious boat faults also get Emergency Help: fixed guidance for a Mayday or immediate
danger, and a Find nearest marina search that opens your maps app. The guidance reads
offline; the search needs a signal.
Your account, in the app. Settings › Account › Delete Account asks
for your password and deletes your account on our servers, then removes that account's diagnoses and
photos from the phone; projects and worksheets stay on the phone. "Forgot password?" on the sign-in
screen opens the website's reset page, and the EULA, Terms of Service and Privacy Policy are in
Settings › About.
Every result saves itself. A photo or described-problem diagnosis goes into History
the moment its result arrives, so backing out no longer loses it. Save to History now only appears if
that save failed.
Straight to the camera, and History is back in the tab bar. The tabs are Home ·
Projects · camera · Describe · History. Scan and the camera button open the camera straight away, your
limit is checked before it opens rather than after the photo, and Choose Photo uses Android's Photo
Picker, so the app needs no storage permission. Describe asks you to pick Car, Home or Boat first — it
used to assume Car — and Use This Diagnosis replaces "That's it!".
Plainer words, and easier to use. Headings read "Likely problem", "Possible problem"
or "Best guess" instead of "Final Diagnosis", error messages no longer show raw code, and acronyms stay
upper-case, so "Sensor ECU" rather than "Sensor Ecu". Text and buttons meet WCAG AA contrast, TalkBack
gets named buttons, headings and checkboxes that announce their state, touch targets are 48dp, and the
tab bar grows with your text size.
Fixed. Guest diagnoses were missing from Home, and restarting the app sent a guest
back to the sign-in screen. Described problems were rated Low and given the general guide; they now take
both from their category. Diagnose Another and Diagnose Now led to an error page. Legal and purchase
links opened our development website. A wrong password said "You're signed out". A revoked Bluetooth
permission could put a prompt over a car result. The home shut-off page gave a green all-clear when
nothing matched; it now says so in amber, with gas and smoke advice.

Use fi[x]in without an account.Continue as Guest on the sign-in
screen opens the app straight into diagnosis, and entering guest mode makes no network call.
Everything that runs on your phone works for a guest. Photo diagnosis, describing a
problem, the repair library, History, projects and worksheets are all stored on the phone, so none of
them needed an account.
Guests are on the free plan. The Repair Assistant and restoring from cloud backup stay
visible and explain that they need an account, rather than disappearing or failing with a network
error. Where a feature needs an account and a paid plan, it asks for the account first, and Settings
shows you as a guest rather than "Not signed in".

A new home screen, and a much smaller app.

A new home screen, and the camera from every tab. Home is one camera block with
Scan and "or describe it instead", three Car / Home / Boat shortcuts and a compact
Recent list. The connection bar, mode toggle, engine pill and stat chips are gone, and
one line in the top bar says "Ready", "Synced" or "N to back up". A raised camera button in the middle
of the tab bar opens the photo flow over whatever you were doing; History is "See all" under Recent, and
Settings is the account button. The app is repainted in the fi[x]in brand colours, with one colour per
area everywhere: car red, home yellow, boat blue.
Describe the problem in words. The Ask tab, and the Car, Home and Boat shortcuts on
Home, take a plain description — "brakes squeal when I stop" — and return likely causes ranked by
confidence, worked out on your phone by a text model for each area. Pick the one that fits and you land
on the same results page a photo gives you, with the same repair-guide rules. This was an admin-only
preview before.
One model instead of 118, and a much smaller app. Diagnosis now runs on a single
on-device model instead of a chain of 118 smaller ones, and those models no longer ship with the app, so
it takes a fraction of the space it did.
Results say how sure they are, and lead with the category. Results read "Strong
match", "Possible match" or "Low match" instead of a percentage, measured the same way on every screen,
and a low match suggests a retake and is headed "Best guess". The result opens on the broad category
with the specific fault underneath, and each tool sits behind its own row instead of a column of
identical buttons. A specific fault is only named when the app is reasonably sure of the category above
it; otherwise the result stops at the category and says a closer photo in better light usually
helps.
Parts and Tools on every result. Results list the parts, tools and materials the
repair calls for, read from the "What You'll Need" section of the same built-in guide the repair guide
shows, so the two can't disagree. Every plan sees it, even where the guide itself is locked, and a
diagnosis with no guide gets no list rather than a generic kit.
Bluetooth OBD-II readers, for cars. Pair an ELM327-type reader (sold separately)
under Settings › Vehicle Diagnostics, including the Bluetooth Classic clones that iPhones can't use. A new
car diagnosis can then add the car's stored and pending trouble codes, and Live ECU Data shows whichever
readings the car supports. It's read-only and can't clear codes.
Fixed. Repair worksheets turned every line of a guide — headings, summaries, tool
lists — into a numbered step, so a short repair became a 38-item checklist; they now take only the
guide's steps, and worksheets built the wrong way are rebuilt once unless you've edited them. A paid
account could get stuck on the free engine for good. The engine picker named the wrong engine and
offered a large download to keep running the one you already had. The results screen used different
area colours from the rest of the app.

Every fault name checked, end to end.

Fixed: car diagnoses in five categories named the wrong fault. Five label lists
disagreed with what their model actually outputs, so results were read off by one or more positions.
Electrical issues and Engine issues were the worst of it — a missing entry at the top of each list
shifted every label after it, so every result in those two categories named the wrong fault.
Sensors/ECU had 15 faults that could never be reached, Dashboard warning lights misnamed two of four
results, and one exhaust fault silently returned nothing. Every list was rebuilt by probing each model's
output directly, and a full audit now checks all 118 routes against their model:
zero mismatches.
Fixed: home diagnoses stopped at the category instead of naming the fault. Twelve home
areas — electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roof, structural, foundation, insulation, lighting, pest, water,
general, and misc — shipped a specific-fault model with no labels wired up, so the analysis dead-ended
one step early and reported only the broad area. That takes the cascade from 102 to 114 specific-fault
stages.
Fixed: model updates could never run. "Check for Model Updates" always failed. The app
was asking for the catalog at the wrong address and getting our marketing site back with a success code,
so it never looked like a missing page. Verified end to end on a Galaxy S25: the update is now offered
and installs.
Fixed: error messages were hidden behind the tab bar. The floating tab bar is drawn
over each screen, so anything that appeared at the bottom was covered by it — which is how the
model-update failure above went undiagnosed for as long as it did. Messages now float clear of the bar,
in all 11 places the app shows one.
Diagnosis models update themselves. The app can now pick up improved models from our
servers without waiting for a Play Store release. Settings gains a Model Management
section with a Check for Model Updates button and download sizes, and the app checks
quietly on its own at most once every six hours.
Downloads are Wi-Fi only unless you say otherwise. Android has no system-level
setting for this, so the app checks the connection itself before each batch — walking out of Wi-Fi
range stops the download rather than quietly finishing on your data plan.
A part-finished download still helps: the models needed for a diagnosis arrive first and are used
as soon as they land.
Nothing is replaced until a download has completed and every file has been verified.
New engine generations without an app update. A new named engine can be introduced
from the server and appear in the picker instead of requiring a new build. Plan entitlements still
apply.
The confidence saved with a diagnosis now covers the whole path. It previously
recorded only the most specific step's own score, ignoring the chance of a wrong turn above it — a
90%/45%/40% diagnosis was stored as 40% when the odds of the whole answer being right were 16%. History
entries are compared against each other and against the server, so they need to mean one thing. The
per-step percentages on the result page are unchanged.
Model Status reports where its models came from — "Bundled with app" or "N downloaded
· rest bundled" — and re-scans whenever a pack is installed or removed.
Downloads are verified before they're used. Every file carries a SHA-256 and is
discarded if the contents don't match, server-supplied filenames are validated against an allow-list
before anything is written to disk, and downloaded models are excluded from backup and device transfer
so they don't eat your Google Drive quota.

Safety-critical faults are rated properly again.

Fixed: serious problems were rated "Low" — and Basic accounts were denied the repair guide
because of it. Severity came from matching four words against the problem category, so
26 categories across all three domains came back "Low" no matter how serious they were
— fuel system, steering, exhaust, and safety restraints on cars; bilge, hull, water ingress, thru-hull,
fire safety, and propane/LPG galley on boats; fire & life safety, chimney, structural, and
foundation at home. That wasn't only a wrong label: Basic-tier repair guidance unlocks on a High rating,
so every one of those categories quietly withheld the repair guide too. Severity is now keyed to the
model's actual label vocabulary.

Android draws level with iOS.

Named ML engines, switchable from the Dashboard. The on-device models now ship as
named generations — Sapphire 4.0 and
Ruby 3.9 — with the active engine shown on the Dashboard and the
Diagnose screen. On plans entitled to more than one, the "ML Engine" caption is a tappable pill that
swaps engines in place, and Settings gains an ML Engine section listing every engine your plan can
run.
A much bigger guide library. The instruction library grew from one guide per broad
category to 2,262, filed by specific fault, so a boat autopilot that won't hold course
and one with a leaking hydraulic ram each open their own guide. Where a fault has no guide of its own,
the category guide still appears.
Wider boat fault coverage — sterndrive/outdrive, trailer, propane/LPG galley,
refrigeration, and trim tabs.
Two-factor sign-in. Accounts with two-factor authentication can now sign in on
Android. After your password is accepted, the app asks for the current code from your authenticator app;
a six-digit code submits itself as soon as you finish typing, and Android can fill it in for you.
Restore your diagnoses from cloud backups. History can now pull backed-up diagnoses
back down — previously the app only ever uploaded them, so a new phone or a reinstall meant an empty
History even though everything was safe on the server. Restoring adds what's missing and fills in blanks
rather than overwriting.
Backups now carry the whole diagnosis — diagnosis, confidence, domain, severity,
repair instructions, and your problem description alongside the photo.
Your diagnosis allowance follows your account. Plan limits are tracked on a rolling
30-day window server-side, so they travel across devices and reinstalls. The Diagnose screen shows
what's left, offline runs are counted once you're back online, and a failed analysis is free.
Add to Project from a result or its worksheet, with a picker that creates a new
project or moves the diagnosis between existing ones.
"AI" is now "ML" across the app, and the Car, Boat, and Home results screens each use
a single per-domain theme colour — red, cyan, green — instead of a multicoloured set.
Fixed: the app froze when a diagnosis created a new repair worksheet. Opening a
worksheet for a diagnosis that didn't have one yet could lock the app up completely.
Fixed: "Back up" marked a diagnosis as backed up without uploading it. The detail
sheet flipped the "Synced to cloud" flag without sending anything to the server. It now uploads for real
and reports failure instead of claiming success.
